Smartphones have penetrated almost every aspect of our lives. You buy groceries, book holidays, learn news, get entertained by digital streaming platforms, meet your potential life partner, find friends, etc., from these mobile applications. This vast digital footprint created is utilized by many companies such as marketing, eCommerce, and hackers. Usually, we do not have any problems with marketers or any product company using the information as it follows the terms and conditions signed by us. But hackers utilizing this information leads to a destructive impact on us. Hackers get information by exploiting vulnerabilities in mobile applications we use, which none of us want.

Digital life can also encompass the way we interact on Facebook, the tweets we send out, the type of people we follow, the people we follow, the pictures we post on Instagram, and so on. These social media applications are pretty robust when it comes to security. However, these have also come under attack and led to cyber theft.

While interacting with mobile applications i.e we click a lot of links, post a lot of pictures, comment on a lot of stuff, buy a lot of things and this is called data. This data is the information we leave while using mobile applications, they show everything we do, every site you visited, every person’s picture you liked, every link you clicked, etc.

This data is basically a detailed report about you, it is similar to having a detailed report on how many shirts you have, how many shoes you have, what color of shirt you wore to work or school today, etc.

This happens due to vulnerabilities in mobile applications. As per a survey done by PC mag, the situation is quite grim for most applications. If users become aware of these vulnerabilities, they can demand developers to fix their applications for vulnerabilities.

We need a way to protect the details of our digital life from being accessed by people without permission. This is where MobSF can help. An open-source tool, MobSF can explore vulnerabilities in mobile applications and help developers fix them.
